1. Don’t be in a hurry

Pilates is not like a high intensity cardio workout, where increasing the speed means instant calorie burn. Rather, it helps you to gain core strength, flexibility, stronger muscles gradually with the right amount of balance. In fact, don’t rush. Otherwise, you can end up getting injured or the muscles can get overstretched.

2. Breathe

Pilates requires a lot of core strength. In such a situation, if you are not taking care of the breathing technique taught by the instructor, then you can get hurt easily. Breathing plays a crucial role in Pilates. So don’t hold your breath and learn how to breathe properly.

3. Don’t expect quick results

If you are thinking that by opting for Pilates, you’ll see instant results, you may be mistaken. It can take a while for your body to adapt itself. Everything takes time and Pilates is all about taking one step ahead at a time. And in the process, you can even lose weight. Don’t expect dramatic changes in your body. Weight loss can be one of your goals, but you shouldn’t focus solely on it. The changes will first be visible in your muscles and then eventually you’ll see yourself losing weight.

Things you should keep in you mind while doing Pilates

1. Check your form

It is the main rule of doing any kind of exercise. You have to retain your form. If your body posture is not correct, you will not get any benefit. So make sure your body posture is on point.

2. Wear the right clothes

Wear fitted clothing such as leggings, capris or yoga pants. It will allow your trainer to see your body posture and check if it’s correct or not. This will make you feel comfortable during Pilates. Plus, it will help you to exercise in a better way.

3. Tell the trainer if you’re in trouble

If you feel any discomfort during Pilates, tell your trainer straight away. Otherwise you may get hurt a lot. Also, don’t try to move too quickly. It can also be fatal for you.
