One Piece has a way of carrying over arcs for dozens of episodes, each one of them ending with clever cliffhangers. The anime series thrives on surprise endings that completely alter the storyline. Something similar happened in the latest episode of the series. In a teaser for the next episode, One Piece revealed a character’s new look. And it looks a lot like Marvel’s supervillain Thanos. Yeah, we wouldn’t believe it either.
There is a One Piece character pulling off Thanos’ exact aesthetic and he appears right after the last episode’s ending. The anime has a ‘to be continued…’ section after ever closing and this time it featured a pirate, perhaps the only one who can pull off a Thanos. Check out the teaser here and see if you guessed it right:
It’s Marshall D. Teach!
Teach went full Thanos in the cliffhanger. The character has grown considerably in size. He’s wearing a bunch of rings on his fingers. And they are each of a different colour. Colours of the infinity stones to be precise. The gems on his left hand are pink, yellow and blue. We don’t know if the gems hold any significance to the plot of the anime but, we do know that it’s a good look on Teach. Only he could carry the bling with a plan of world domination in mind. Who better than Blackbeard to take on the persona of the Mad Titan. His look spells madness. Check out the clip, if you don’t believe us:
The infinity gauntlet comparisons aren’t all that random. One Piece and Marvel have had several run-ins ever since the Infinity Saga wrapped up in the MCU. Since then we’ve had a Marvel writer sign up to work on the One Piece live-action film (yes, that’s a thing!) and not long ago, a One Piece voice actor nominated Franky to go join the Avengers.
